The Eden Project

The Eden Project is quite simply - 'something out of this world!'

From the visitors centre, there is the most superb view of the domes (biomes), that quite literally takes your breathe away - you can't comprehend the size of everything. A great spot to take photographs.

I visited Eden with three girlfriends, having spent a girlie weekend in Padstow, Cornwall. I was a little apprehensive, as non of my friends are really into horticulture - but we all agreed, Eden was definitely a good place to visit.

The Cornish weather forecast was for wind and showers, so the warm temperate biome was fantastic way to escape to a warmer climate. It exhibited fruits from the Mediterranean, grape vines and plants from South Africa.

The larger of the two Biomes was the Humid Tropics. However a word of warming the humidity can make you feel a little uncomfortable and if you've straighten your hair, be prepared for frizz! I noticed some people couldn't stay very long in the humid Tropics Biome, but if you can take the climb to the top, it is worth the view!

The quarry itself is also covered with planting which represent the entire temperate world!

The main food hall provides a good selection and as a wheat intolerant person, I was very happy and surprised to see wheat free pizza's!

The Eden Project is open all year round except Christmas Eve and Christmas Day. Entry is £13.80 for adults and over 60's £10. Children, under fives can go in free, 5 - 18 year olds in full time education £5.
